Sketching Live at Edinburgh Zoo
I recently spent a day at one of my favourite stockists Edinburgh Zoo with my marketing gal (and pal) Natalie. We were there to do some live sketching, take loads of photos and check out the display of my products in their gift shop.
Whilst we were at the zoo we ran a competition to ask folk which animals I should draw. Everyone who commented was then entered into a prize draw to win one of the sketches. It was my first time using Facebook and Instagram Live….eeek! I was a bit nervous about being filmed drawing on camera but after the first one it was totally fine. View all our videos here.
Time escaped us and the day flew by! It was impossible to get around all the animals that were suggested. I did manage to draw the penguins (who were hilarious and kept waddling off), the koala (Natalie’s favourite), the panda Yang Guang (it was quite difficult here as lots of kids in the small viewing room), the flamingos (so elegant) and the zebras (whose stripes made me go cross-eyed at times).
We were lucky to have a nice sunny day and, apart from a few school groups, the zoo was relatively quiet so we managed to get a good view of each animal to draw. We also walked up to the top of the hill to take in that incredible view of Edinburgh.
Sketching live from Edinburgh Zoo was a bit of an experiment and I am really grateful to everyone who watched, commented and took part in the competition.
